JOB SUMMARY: This position leads all event planning, marketing, booking/sales, and business operations of the 6,000 seat Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas, with primary emphasis on profitable sales growth. The General Manager will be responsible for growing the event business working closely with the Frisco CVB ? and gaining the venue industry exposure/recognition, while also overseeing the administration of events and the operational management of the facility in conjunction with other departments within the parent organization, including Corporate Operations, Human Resources, Legal, and Accounting. The General Manager will provide guidance and leadership to the facility to achieve the company’s goals and objectives, will be responsible for setting and achieving annual growth budgets and will work closely with third-party vendors to ensure that the Arena operates efficiently and to the standards set by the company. Ultimately, the successful General Manager will treat the Arena as his/her 'baby', demonstrating at all times a passion for the events industry along with the vision, desire and capabilities to grow the Arena into a thriving mid-market venue.
Grow revenues and profits by sensibly increasing the programming and utilization of the venue and piecing together the right mix of events;
Make the Arena positively well known amongst North American owners of branded entertainment properties, promoters, talent agencies, and event planners/coordinators;
Serve as the senior-level relationship manager for the venue's clients, tenants and service providers, handling high-level communications and Relationships include:
front of house staff (ushers, ticket takers, parking attendants);
equipment rental vendors;,
police, fire department, and EMT personnel;
in-house event staffing (Operations, Front Desk, Box Office).
Maintain, direct and develop the venue's calendar, schedule and hours so as to meet or exceed programming objectives and operating expense
Conduct weekly staff meetings among internal staff as well as service
Work with the Arena’s Event Services staff in a supervisory capacity to ensure that proper communication and preparation with all vendors and staff takes place in a timely and efficient manner for each
Prepare and overseestaffexecution of vehicular traffic plans on an event-by-event
Work with event promoters and production teams to prepare the Arena for upcoming events, including for all tenants. Preparation includes:
creation of seating maps using AutoCAD;
coordination of seating layouts with the Box Office for creation of ticketmanifests;
assisting production teams with rigging loads, capacities and tailoring the configuration of the Arena to fit their event's needs;
coordinating merchandise sales when handled either internally or by the third party user;
coordinating the use of the Club Lounge, suites, concourse and lobby
Serve as the primary liaison with the Frisco Independent School District for annual graduation ceremonies and similar school district
Field booking inquiries and providing preliminary information to potential renters/users of the
Collect all fees for the use of the venue and its equipment
Develop plans and programs to ascertain the highest levels of customer satisfaction, safety, employee morale and aesthetic appearance of the
Serve as the primary conduit for receiving and resolving customer
Establish annual budgets that increase revenues and minimize expenses for the venue each year, including needed capital
Oversee the implementation of budgeted guidelines in event
Ensure that vendors and employees under General Manager’s-authority are properly implementing matters of training, development, education and quality
Appraise employee performance; reward and discipline staff; address all employee and guest complaints and resolve personnel issues.
Marketing and Selling
Direct the effective positioning, marketing and procurement of activities and events for the
Build and manage a direct sales funnel of event prospects to
Foster involvement with Convention and Visitors Bureau and other city agencies to provide direct sales leads and/or to drive indirect sales
Establish, maintain and monetize mutually beneficial relationships with industry-related, political, civic and community
Create promotional/signature events that build brand and business for the
Establish, benchmark and track event pricing and
Seek and solicit new programming for the venue, including events and building tenants. Build revenue backlog in advance of fiscal periods, including a strong mix of multi-year bookings;
Collaborate with tenants to grow attendance and revenues at all Arena
Personnel Management (working with shared service departments)
Determine the organizational structure and personnel requirements for the venue; direct the structure for effective and efficient use of
Maintain employee job descriptions, duties, responsibilities and performance standards for all positions in the venue.
Interview, hire, train and manage the venue's managerial staff and make changes as needed to achieve corporate goals.
Work with other departments within the organization to manage the time and effectiveness of shared employees of other internal
Financial Management (working with in-source departments)
Establish and achieve annual budgets that increase revenues and improve expense efficiency for the venue each year, including needed capital
Review event-by-eventpricing and costing projections to determine financial risk/reward for prospect
Coordinate and liaise with accounting department to insure proper reporting of event revenue and
Review monthly and post-eventfinancial reporting to insure their accuracy and to ascertain that goals are being met.
Oversee the collection of all fees for the use of the venue and its equipment and
Standards and Compliance
Ensure the effective implementation of required training, development education and quality assurance within the
Implement, direct and coordinate the administration of policies, plans and programs prescribed by corporate directives.
Respond and react to external organizations, agencies and individuals, including assuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with all applicable laws and the governing City of Frisco

Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university;
10 years of industry related experience in event booking, promotion and production or facility management with track record for delivering/growing revenues in the sports and entertainment business;
Or an equivalent combination of education and

Customer service: must be able to proactively provide a top notch experience for Arena patrons, while handling complaints and problems
Computer: must be competent in AutoCAD or similar program in order to create seating charts for events; must be adept at working in Excel and other MS Office
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
The position may require extended work hours, particularly nights and weekends, in conjunction with events and tenant activities in order to make the venue a success and to retain and extend event business. The position requires constant patrolling of the venue and surrounding grounds to remain familiar and present with personnel and facility issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an arena environment, with noise levels that can become considerably loud.
