Reporting to the AGM, Guest Experience & Events, this position is responsible for developing event operation strategies and best practices for OEG. The position is also responsible for ensuring all events exceed client expectations and deliver the highest standard of service and safety to all guests, promotors, partners and vendors. In addition to the general responsibilities, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions and special projects, based upon the particular requirements of OEG.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
•Directs and manages the work performance of the Event Management team.
•Continually mentors, coaches and develops the skills of direct and indirect reports.
•Manages the event assignment schedule and assigns team members to events across all OEG properties.
•Schedules and directs OEG and Rogers Place Event Production meetings to ensure flawless planning and execution of all events.
•Develops effective working relationships with local regulatory agencies.
•Provides expertise and guidance on the planning and implementation of high quality, professionally managed OEG Events.
•Develops and implements a full cycle event reporting process utilizing technology and analytics to drive continuous improvement.
•Ensures all operational activities related to events held or produced by OEG from preparation of estimates to final settlement are handled in a timely, accurate, thorough and effective manner.
•Identifies opportunities for process and event management improvements following up with developing or enhancing policies and procedures.
•Creates and manages Standard Operating Procedures to ensure efficiency, consistency and service excellence is a top priority for all events.
•Develop and administer a yearly budget with monthly updates and forecasts for revenues and expenditures.
•Make recommendations for capital improvements and request appropriations as needed.
•Research new event industry initiatives, technique and elements that can be incorporated into OEG events.
•Assists Department Directors with developing and continually reviewing plans for standardization of front and back of house venue presentation operating standards and space use/technical guides.
•Lead and/or assist with planning for events in the ICE District Plaza, currently under construction.
•Participates and contributes actively in all Senior Management meetings.
•Serve as Manager on Duty and/or Incident Commander in Event Command as required.
Education, Experience and Skills:
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
•7-10 years’ experience managing events in a large public assembly facility, preferably experience with sports and entertainment.
•Supervisory and management experience with full-time roles (direct reports).
•Experience working in a Hospitality environment will be considered an asset.
•Experience in large scale event production, preferably with sports and entertainment.
•Highly organized, resourceful and proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
•Dedicated to leading and delivering internal and external service excellence.
•Proven knowledge & experience in facility management, leadership, strategic planning, operations and large scale event production.
•Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project and Event management software experience (CAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)
•Passionate about delivering to our clients the best possible experience.
•Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
•Must be able to work an event based schedule which includes evenings, weekends and holidays
