The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Student Services Specialist for the Student Activity Center & Venue Management. This is a full-time, permanent staff position with flexible hours necessary to support the event schedule.
Purpose of the Position: The primary job responsibilities of the Assistant Technical Director is to assist with set up & operate all audio visual equipment, to include, but not limited to, sound, light, and video equipment, modular digital displays system & projector units in the James H. Barnhardt Student Activity Center (192,000 square feet with 9,000 seat Halton Arena), and 15,315 seat Jerry Richardson Stadium. The broad scope of activities that these venues can accommodate provide the University with multi use space to meet the event, recreational, and athletic needs of the campus community as well as, when scheduling allows, the greater Charlotte community.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management experience in the student services or related field; or equivalent.
Preferred Qualities: Three years of hands-on experience in technical support for events to include concerts and athletic events, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer relevant technical degree in sound, lights, electronics, or stage management. Relevant on-the-job experience involving sound and lighting system design, engineering, set-up, and operation during live performances; provision of audio-visual support for meetings, conferences, and lectures; relevant experience with AVL software systems. Experience with the operation and maintenance of LED video boards and scoring systems, digital signage solutions, athletic competition statistical data software, rigging systems, fiber optics AV solutions, video switchers/live event streaming, and DMX controlled LED, robotic, and theater lighting systems is strongly preferred. Prefer a degree in sound, lights, electronics, and stage management.
