The DeSoto County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau is seeking an Assistant Box Office Manager for the Landers Center located in Southaven, Mississippi. The Assistant Box Office Manager assists in the overall operations of both the box office and accounting office. The Assistant Box Office Manager must be able to succeed in a fast paced environment and be able to produce positive results in an atmosphere that requires exemplary customer service. The Assistant Box Office Manager will report primarily to the Box Office Manager with some duties coming from the Director of Finance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepares report to reconcile daily business transactions. • Supervise and assist with scheduling ticket sellers. • Process promoter and complimentary ticket requests. • Coordinate all event information between promoter, venue staff, and ticketing company in a timely manner. • Assist in creating events within the ticketing system for both sales and scanning functions. • Manage inventory within the ticketing system including special offers, artist/promoter holds, and tickets available to the general public. • Check event builds for accuracy and coordinate any corrections within the ticketing system. • Assist or prepare cash banks for multiple departments including Parking, Food & Beverage, and Ticket Sellers. • Assist or prepare final box office settlement for each event. • Sell tickets as needed. • Respond to customer complaints and requests while maintaining a positive rapport with customers. • Use discretion and independent judgement to determine to solve problems quickly to the satisfaction of customers. • Determine the validity of any refund requests and respond accordingly. • Accurately dispense tickets as requested by guests. • Help train staff on use of the ticketing system and box office policies. • Maintain accurate balance of both the vault and petty cash. • Coordinate any cash requests between the promoter, venue, and bank. • Answer questions concerning prices, seating, and events. • Maintain competency and professional currency through training provided by ticketing system including possible travel for training when approved by Executive Director. • Regularly monitor events for potential customer service issues. Report any issues to the Box Office Manager. • Responsible for accounting duties including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other various accounting functions as assigned by the Director of Finance. • Perform other duties as they arise and are necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of technical or specialized training or education in personal computers and the use of spreadsheet software products are preferred. • Experience: At least two years of customer service, cash handling, and box office experience is required. Two years of experience working with the Ticketmaster platform is preferred. One year of supervisory experience is preferred. • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and customer service skills are required. Computer literacy is required. Must be able to type, count money, and make change correctly.
Other Requirements • Must pass background check. • This position requires working irregular hours including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
