Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department- This is a responsible administrative position overseeing and implementing operations and custodial services for City owned properties and facilities. The Director of Operations directly supervises custodial supervisors, custodians and all other operations staff and oversees contractors and job sites. This position meets regularly with the Director of Public Assembly Facilities and others to evaluate facility conditions, lessee satisfaction and to ensure that safety procedures are being followed. As a member of the management team, the Director of Operations attends meetings regularly to discuss matters of policy, procedures, and how to improve customer service. Work is evaluated through meetings, inspections and results achieved. This position also assists with budget preparation and is responsible for the planning and distribution of budget funds to include new equipment, supplies, and management of the overtime and on-call funds. The Director of Operations hires and supervises staff, establishes employee performance and customer service standards and orients new employees and develops and provides employee training. In addition, this position investigates employee accidents and injuries and implements appropriate safety rules and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in management or a related field or a combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities of the position. Considerable experience in facilities management with preference for experience in high-profile public buildings and prior supervisory experience managing staff in multiple locations in a unionized environment. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including long shifts, nights and weekends, as required.
Additional Salary Information: Non-Union – Grade 8 – $52,572 – $61,522.76/year, based on education and experience.
