The Event Manager will work with client and client’s vendors on all needs and be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience.
EVENT MANAGER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Event Manager will manage every aspect of their assigned events from the advanced planning stages through the end of the event; they are the liaison between the facility and the client to make sure the facility meets the client’s expectations through proper set-up and use of equipment. The Event Manager will assist to hire, train, schedule and supervise Guest Services Team Members. This position will coordinate communication between set-up crews, Guest Services Team, and other County of Wayne employees from other departments.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
•Plan, service and supervise large and small events as a liaison between users of the facility and the facility staff •Complete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork and dedication •Plan and direct the advancement of event needs •Plan and direct the Food & Beverage caterer options/needs for clients •Coordinate service needs with Caterers, florists, decorators and other vendors as needed •Plan and direct the preparation of building to meet the requirements of upcoming events/shows •Assist with ticketing information for the event if applicable •Assist with the completion of pre-show event financial estimates •Assist with the completion of post-show event settlements •Assist in recruiting and training guest services and security staff •Create work schedules for guest services and security staff, delegate assignments and review performance and results •Investigate and resolve event-related complaints in a professional manner ensuring customer satisfaction •Review emergency planning procedures with all events staff for each event •Work to create and distribute detailed data sheets prior to every event to assist and direct Venue Services Manager and Set-Up Crews with breakdown, changeovers and setup of events •Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled •Perform other duties as assigned
Directly supervises Guest Services Team members and indirectly supervises Event Services Manager. Indirectly supervises staff in other departments, such as housekeeping and facilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with County of Wayne’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Two to four (2-4) years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility setting
Education / Training:
Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business management, marketing or related field preferred.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet these requirements may be substituted.
Licenses or Certificates:
Possession of, or ability to obtain a current CPR certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of operational characteristics of events
Knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
Knowledge of customer service practices
Knowledge of principles of supervision and training
Demonstrated familiarity with facility use contracts
Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
Knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
Familiarity with terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings
Ability to identify the needs of users of the facility
Plan, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinates
Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Work under high pressure in meeting urgent deadlines
Provide leadership to facility staff
Recognize, analyze and resolve challenges
Implements programs, policies, and procedures for the Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center
Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders and facility users
Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended numbers of days
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and be able to learn VenueOps (booking calendar) and Social Tables (diagramming & layout) software programs.
