The Venue Services Manager will work with Event Managers to meet client and client’s vendors needs and be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience.
VENUE SERVICES MANAGER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Venue Services Manager will manage every aspect of support services for events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event following directions in the event workorder from the Event Managers. The Venue Services Manager will hire, train, schedule and supervise all Set-Up Crew Team leaders and Team members, as well as oversee audio-visual, HVAC, electrical and other exhibitor/event services to ensure events run smoothly. This is a working supervisory position. Will coordinate communication between The Maxwell Center staff and other County of Wayne staff.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
•Plan, service and supervise services staff for large and small events and daily building function •Compete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork •Assist in the advancement of the needs of events/shows •Assist in the preparation of building to meet the requirements of upcoming events/shows •Assist to recruit and train venue services staff •Create work schedules for venue services staff, delegate assignments and review performance and results •Assist and direct changeover crew/ venue services staff with breakdown, changeover and setup of events •Recommend and evaluate required event staffing levels •Coordinate communication between building staff and show staff during load in and load out •Set-up, operate, and maintain venue services equipment (audio-visual, sound, lighting, etc.) •Ensure that the facility is cleaned prior to, during and after all events to maintain building appearance and increase customer satisfaction •Review emergency planning procedures with all events staff for each event •Coordinate with Finance/Payroll as needed to ensure staff and other applicable parties are paid •Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled •Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Directly supervises Set-Up Crew Team Leaders and Members and indirectly supervises Guest Services Team. Indirectly supervises staff in other departments, such as housekeeping and facilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with County of Wayne’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Two to four (2-4) years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility setting
Education / Training:
Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business management, marketing or related field preferred.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet these requirements may be substituted.
Licenses or Certificates:
Possession of, or ability to obtain a current CPR certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of operational characteristics of events
Knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
Knowledge of customer service practices
Knowledge of principles of supervision and training
Demonstrated familiarity with facility use contracts
Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
Knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
Familiarity with terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings
Ability to identify the needs of users of the facility
Plan, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinates
Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Work under high pressure in meeting urgent deadlines
Provide leadership to facility staff
Recognize, analyze and resolve challenges
Implements programs, policies, and procedures for the Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center
Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders and facility users
Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended numbers of days
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and be able to learn VenueOps (booking calendar) and Social Tables (diagramming & layout) software programs.
