Job Summary: This person will be responsible for overseeing a Dr Pepper StarCenter facility. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation of a year round twin sheet ice facility to ensure optimal operational and fiscal management. The General Manager must work closely with and be responsible for the facility’s Operations Manager, Skating Programs Manager, Hockey Programs Manager and have the ability to step in and manage each area in the need arises. The General Manager will be required to invest the time necessary to ensure all aspects of the facility run efficiently and smoothly. Facility Manager Responsibilities: Oversee day to day operations of facility including cash handling, deposits, banking transactions, daily closeout procedures, and enrollment processing. Enrollment processing Collections and revenue tracking, including but not limited to, pro rent, freestyles/figure skating, hockey registration payments, skating & hockey academies, parties/events, ice rentals/tenant invoicing, NSF collection, and online registration tracking. Employee Schedules for front desk/customer service, operations, managers, instructors, skate guards, party attendants, and managers on duty. Develops and maintains strong relationships with facility user groups. Responsible for community public relations and patron satisfaction. Create welcoming atmosphere through staff training on high level of customer service and care of the facility. Intervening in situations related to public safety. Creating and maintaining ice events through the MaxGalaxy software platform. Selling ice and creating ice rental contracts for 3rd party customers. Scheduling internal programs such as DSMHL, SSHL, Academies, Enhancements, Drop Ins, Open Hockey, Freestyle Sessions, etc. Review and approval of facility expenses including P-Card payments to vendors and liaising with A/P on check payments and trade agreements. Corporate Policies and Procedures Oversee, maintain and implement all recommendations regarding policies and procedures to create uniformity amongst facilities. Ensure a positive attitude amongst staff members when implementing policies and procedures. Facility Health and Safety Provide a safe, clean and sanitary environment. Ensure facility meets all local, state, and federal safety requirements at all times. Monitor building security, custodial maintenance and emergency supplies and equipment. Liaise with Home Office Support staff including hockey programs, skating programs, building maintenance, IT, HR, and Accounting. Prepare annual budgets with VP, monthly sales tracking, forecasting and analysis of revenues and expenses, and review and approve monthly P & L Facility Staffing: Review and approve all new hires, oversee training of new employees, review and approve payroll on a semi-monthly basis. Schedule quarterly staff meetings Oversee implementation of all marketing initiatives for the facility Website content, traditional marketing, grass roots marketing strategies Negotiate and manage all facility related contracts including Ice Rental Customers, building tenants, and vending agreements. Work with Corporate Sales Department on all sponsor fulfillment such as dasher boards, wall banners, and other signage and programs Create new revenue streams through “out of the box” thinking.
