The Vice President of Security is responsible for providing excellent Event Security, Facility Security, and Risk Management services by planning, monitoring, directing, delegating, controlling, and managing all functions of the Event Security and Core services departments during events and non-event times. Oversee the security operations for Barclays Center and Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum including, but not limited to, anti-terrorism, risk management, loss prevention, safety, training, investigations and intelligence, budgeting, emergency preparedness, disaster prevention, and personnel management. Monitor and assess threats or attacks and the impact and possible losses that might ensue, as well as, to balance these losses against the costs of security procedures that may reduce these losses. Oversee Event Security management with regard to revenue and profitability of assigned clients/tenants, while ensuring the utmost in client and tenant partnership satisfaction.
The incumbent will oversee and coordinate security efforts across the company and will identify security initiatives and standards. Responsible for a staff of over 400 (internal and external resources) and budgetary responsibilities in excess of $1 million. This role leads the development and continuous improvement of policies, process, and governance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead Barclays Center and Nassau Coliseum security initiatives and operations including developing, maintaining, and overseeing the operation of security tools, processes, and policies to defend, detect, and respond to threats, vulnerabilities, and attacks targeting the company and its assets. Develop, implement and enforce facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Anticipate problems and appropriate solutions • Effectively manage Core and Event Security departments, as well as, provide necessary leadership, training, support and guidance including distributing written security guidelines for all employees including safety protocols. Empower supervisory team to lead, coach, mentor, and discipline personnel as deemed necessary. • Implement and champion policies to maintain safety of all guests, employees’, clients, and performers at all events by developing, enforcing and regulating venue security policy and procedures through the security team at all our facilities. • Establish positive and collaborative relationships with local, state, and federal fire and police authorities and international authorities. • Create and communicate emergency notification plans in the event of an emergency and develop emergency response and evacuation procedures • Lead and direct major investigations and responses to critical events that impact the organization. • Maintain expenses within annual approved department budget and prepare a security business plan. Research, review, and recommend equipment, materials, and supplies required for the Security and Event Operations department • Establish measures, metrics, thresholds, and targets to drive performance in alignment with security, and other business strategies • Prepare a business continuity plan (to include executive protection plan) in case of loss/negative publicized event. • Ensure processing, adjudication, and disposition, of corporate personnel security actions are in compliance with US Government and International statutory, regulatory, customer contractual and business requirements. • Responsible for identifying security service vendors, negotiating contracts, and implementing new systems and procedures; Champion, communicate, and take personal ownership of the security strategy and successes; • Work with our insurance providers to bring down premiums across the company by implementing safety and security measures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION): • A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) • A minimum of 10 years of related work experience • Experience with or knowledge of security-related legislation and regulation • Experience with innovative optimization of leading performance standards for Security processes • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment; Ability to multi-task projects and handle a variety of day-to-day tasks. • Ability to work long, irregular hours for an extended period of time as dictated by events and schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); and ability to learn required business systems • In depth knowledge of US Defense and Intelligence Community personnel security requirements, standards and operations in industry and government. • Budgetary input and responsibility for security personnel based on current and future platform enhancement, as well as, investigative and intelligence activities. • Active participation on security-related industry groups and advisory boards. • Ability to effectively manage, motivates, and leads the members of the security team. • Ability to lead a cultural shift in security operations and awareness for the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Thorough knowledge of CCTV, computerized access control systems, wireless radio communication, magnetometer screening, security best practices, and city agencies. • Experience with or knowledge of security-related legislation and regulation; • Experience with innovative optimization of leading performance standards for Security processes. • Law enforcement or 10+ years of arena security experience preferred.
