To support our pursuit, we are looking for a Director of Event Services who services, directs, supervises, and coordinates the management of events on the Rose Quarter Campus ensuring the highest quality service. This position is responsible for event services for the Rose Quarter Facilities which includes 20,000-seat Moda Center, 12,000-seat Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 6,500-seat Theater of the Clouds, 40,000-square foot Exhibit Hall and the Rose Quarter Commons.
In this position, you will assume the role of tour guide, communicator, decision-maker, and promoter of positive experiences reflecting the individuality of our community! You'll wear many hats and find solutions that will build generations of passionate fans for our events. Our Director of Event Services is responsible for ensuring all customers enjoy a safe atmosphere with a high level of quality service.
You will be responsible for:
Overseeing full-time Event Managers, including hiring, training developing and administering performance reviews.
Collaborating with peers across all Trail Blazer and Rip City teams to ensure smooth and seamless events.
Handling client & tenant relationships, addressing issues, and proactively resolving problems to provide a consistent promoter and artist experience.
Emulating and promoting the operational values of CREATE (Commitment to Safety, Seamless Performance, Individual Connection, Passion and Fun).
Building and executing department business plans and subsequent resourcing.
Working with cross-functional departments to craft annual event operating budget and individual event budgets.
Collaborating with service departments to ensure proper staffing and services for events based on internal and external needs.
Working with Event Managers to ensure accurate event estimates, bids and event settlements.
Maintaining monthly event assignment schedules and calendars.
Directing event and daily operations of Parking operations, including one full-time parking manager and parking management subcontractor, to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective services for guests, clients, and staff.
Overseeing 6 lots, management of permit sales and issuance, directing enforcement and adjudications, and coordinating event vehicular and pedestrian traffic to minimize traffic congestion and prevent accidents.
Overseeing third party contractor responsible for the implementation, management, and evaluation of operational procedures; the tracking, analysis, and reporting of revenue generated through parking operations and facilities.
Negotiating and managing annual third-party parking contracts. Liaising with applicable City of Portland staff for operation of City owned facilities.
Formulating and administering department policies and developing long-range goals and objectives. Assisting in reviewing and analyzing activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress.
Serving as Manager on Duty for events as required.
You are qualified if:
You have a minimum of 5+ years experience related to event management.
You have 3 years of direct leadership experience where coaching and performance was emphasized.
You have experience in a major sports & entertainment venue - strongly preferred.
You have a Bachelor's degree in a related field - strongly preferred.
You have Parking experience in a multi-venue property environment - strongly preferred.
You have experience running and directing events across a variety of venues and event types.
You have a consistent record of building strong teams.
You have the ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, high profile environment and deliver extraordinary moments for our guests and employees.
You have a strong eye for business.
You have the ability to regularly work on evenings and weekends within a flexible schedule.
