Department:Facility Operations – Safety and Security Reports to:Sr. Vice President of Facilities and Operations Direct Reports: Security Supervisors, FT & PT Officers Status:Exempt
Summary: The Director of Safety and Security is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, staff, patrons, and all visitors within the venues managed by Kimmel Center Inc. He/She will manage and oversee the Safety and Security Department.
Essential Functions: •Ensures the safety and security of the patrons, visitors, vendors and employees who do business with Kimmel Center, Inc. •Ensures the safety and security of the Kimmel Center assets, property and the property of the Resident Companies and renters doing business with Kimmel Center, Inc. •Hires, trains and oversees the Security Supervisors and Officers in the performance of their duties including first response, accident investigations and reporting, wanding/bag checking, and managing disruptive persons •Establishes and maintains the Crisis Management Plan including incident command protocols, crisis communication, and business recovery; establishes schedule and leads all staff training for emergencies and crisis including active shooter, bomb threats etc. Plans and facilitates drills, testing and table top exercises. •Establishes and maintains customer service standards for the officers aligned with Kimmel Center’s customer service protocols •Maintains and updates the security infrastructure i.e. CCTV, access control, radio communications etc., recommending improvements to address deficiencies and upgrades. •Trains security staff in the operation of the fire alarm, access control system and the CCTV system, monitors their performance •Responsible for development and oversight of departmental budget, payroll, and scheduling for all venues and events •Conducts frequent risk assessments •Updates the Security Department’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), as necessary •Develops event and performance security directives, PPD onsite over hire, schedules, and staff duties according to the needs of each event. Arranges for additional support as required. Coordinates with •Establishes and maintains a relationship and open lines of communication with federal, state, and city officials, particularly the Dept. of Homeland Security, DVIC, Police, and Fire Departments. •Maintains incident reporting system database, evaluates and updates for effectiveness and metric reporting •Oversees accident investigation procedures and acts as “Loss Control Officer”, seeking out and investigating the causes of injury associated with legal action against the property. Acts as a liaison between Kimmel Center, Inc. and the proper insurance carrier to eliminate the cause of liability •Conducts investigations to include theft, fraud, threats against employees, workplace violence and other incidents as directed •Serves as Chair of the Workplace Safety Committee setting and achieving goals, setting agenda, and maintain compliance. •Disciplines officers as needed, following HR guidelines •Other duties as assigned by the Senior VP for Facilities and Operations
Education and Experience: •Must have Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or a related field and significant industry experience •Minimum of 10 years of public, private or military security with at least 5 years of significant management experience •Experience in crowd management in a live performance setting preferred •CPP, PSP, CFE or other professional discipline credential preferred •Experience and knowledge of domestic and international events required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: •Demonstrated ability to work well and interact with a diverse and dynamic work force •Knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures •Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff and the public •Strong customer service skills necessary •Ability to conduct investigations and prepare accurate reports •Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures •Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Environment, Physical Demands and Other Conditions: •Some work can be performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations •Occasional nights and weekends
