Stadium Turf Manager positions are responsible for an overall sports turf maintenance and management program for the City's multi-purpose San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU) Stadium, a turf farm, and practice field; plan, coordinate, schedule, and supervise the work of a maintenance crew in a sports turf management program which includes mowing, aerification, soil sampling, top dressing, weed and pest control, resodding, overseeding, irrigation, and fertilization; prepare reports; stadium configuration and marking changes in a timely manner for different sporting events; and perform other duties as assigned.
NOTE: Stadium Turf Manager employees at SDCCU Stadium may be required to work nights and shift work for which they may receive 5% additional pay.
You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated.
EXPERIENCE: You must meet ONE of the following options:
Five years of full-time experience in a sports turf maintenance program, which MUST include three years at a sports stadium. Qualifying experience MUST include at least two years of planning, scheduling, and coordinating a sports turf maintenance program.
Any combination of full and part-time experience which equals five years as specified above.
An Associate's Degree or equivalent education (i.e., minimum completed units = 60 semester/90 quarter) in Ornamental Horticulture, Agronomy or a closely related field may be substituted for a MAXIMUM of two years of the required experience.
LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire.
Experience with a natural turf multi-purpose stadium in a marine environment.
Experience leading a sports turf maintenance program.
Full knowledge of every stadium sports field markings to include, but not limited to NFL & NCAA football, soccer, and lacrosse.
Experience selecting and purchasing turf for full field installation.
