The ideal candidate will have a track record of success as a senior leader within a large complex, public, non-profit or private sector organization with parallels to recreation facility management and planning.
The incumbent will also have at least seven (7) years of successful and responsible executive leadership experience in a large and diverse organization with proven ability to meet and exceed performance targets in terms of revenue, product development, new capital, and job creation, as defined by the Board of Directors.
Education & Experience
Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline (such as Business or Recreation); or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Sports and Recreation, or Entertainment industry background will be desirable.
An understanding of the hospitality business will be an asset.
Demonstrated ability in managing day to day media relations, including on camera interviews and use of social media.
Experience living through exceptional change and enormous growth in an organization. Able to lead and work in a fast paced environment.
Possesses superior intellectual agility, dealing comfortably and rapidly with complex business issues.
Demonstrated ability as an empowering, visionary leader with the talent to read internal and external pulses and the willingness to take calculated risks in forming innovative, collaborative efforts both within Fort McMurray and the communities served.
Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to relate to diverse audiences and populations.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate staff; create a dynamic work environment, be decisive yet inclusive, and model and teach a philosophy that encourages integrity, growth, creativity, appropriate autonomy, accountability and teamwork among staff. Will be able to develop a corporate succession plan.
Strong experience in process improvement and applied knowledge of project management/lifecycle disciplines.
Previous track record demonstrating leadership of multiple successful strategic projects.
