The Georgia World Congress Center is currently seeking a Sr. Director of Sales to join our team. The Sr. Director of Sales reports to the Chief Commercial Officer. This position plays a vital role in our organization by maximizing our aspirational business mix. Our ideal candidate will be a transformational leader who drives innovation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide general administrative supervision of sales, market research and communications functions of the Georgia World Congress Center and Centennial Olympic Park; coordinate activities with other facility departments and industry associates
Prepare, publish and maintain a comprehensive long-range Marketing Plan, updated annually. The Marketing Plan shall be coordinated with and address all segments of the GWCCA. Further, the Marketing Plan shall establish sales goals and objectives, proposed communications plan and market research activities. As applicable, these plans shall be coordinated with the business plans of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Maintain and update a departmental SOP
Promote and maintain liaison with the national and international meeting and industry associations (PCMA, IAEM, ASAE, MPI) as well as the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Hospitality and Trade Association, etc.
Provide sales/marketing reports as required by the GWCCA
Prepare and maintain an annual budget. Forecast and manage all revenue and expense items for the department
Such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Commercial Officer
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Expert knowledge of sales and revenue management as it pertains to the hospitality industry, specifically in the convention center and hotel space
Convention center market knowledge- maintain and be current on our core competitive sets features and benefits while maintaining a steady eye on emerging markets
Ability to prioritize tasks & to manage workload using own initiative
Ability to multi-task & work under pressure with limited resources
Ability to manage budgets and drive profitability
Ability to inspire confidence, lead by example and gain credibility with senior management and day to day team
High degree of integrity and compliance
Thoroughness in task approach, follow-up & completion;
Excellent computer skills
Assess, weigh and manage risk in the face of uncertainty
Research and interpret relevant information from a range of sources
Use appropriate technology to find and process information, while continuously looking for innovative ways to enhance our performance
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree with emphasis in marketing, sales, business or related fields
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of overall sales experience with major convention, hospitality, or multi-purpose facility
Previous hotel experience is highly preferred
Must have a minimum of (5) years of experience in an administrative or management capacity
Must be willing to travel 25% of the time
