SUMMARY The Assistant Operations Manager provides management in the completion of multiple functions of building operations and maintenance for PPG Paints Arena. The person will supervise and coordinate activities of 14 full-time and 120 part-time workers engaged in the Utility and Housekeeping trades. Will lead ongoing building maintenance management and project management as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision and development of Utility and Housekeeping Departments.
Effectively hire, assign work, monitor activities and performance tracking for a team of full-time and part-time employees. Conduct appropriate coaching, counseling and training, discipline and terminations. Ensure staff compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures.
Develop, train, and enforce standard operating procedures in accordance with OSHA and other applicable safety codes.
Create, manage, and disseminate work orders and tasks for all building trades.
Develop and maintain working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Act as Manager on Duty for all overnight (third shift) work, supervising Housekeeping vendors, Housekeeping staff, and conversion activities.
Monitor department budget and provide budgetary information to senior management.
Responsible for project management for large improvements
Ensure adherence to OSHA and other applicable safety codes.
Establish preventive maintenance programs and develop life cycle plans.
BA/BS degree in Facilities Management or related field
A minimum of 3 years of work related experience to effectively manage, motivate, and lead departments
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience with Computer Maintenance Management System
Experience with computer based payroll system
Experience working in a union environment preferred
Must have valid driver’s license
Must maintain a neat and professional appearance that conveys professionalism at all times, whether in the office or out of the office, particularly during events. Professional business attire required when working all events.
Directly supervises employees in the Utility and Housekeeping Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AEG's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time; ability to lift or otherwise move up to 50lbs.
Ability to work long irregular hours for an extended period as dictated by events and schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to operate a keyboard and move around the facility. Must be able to hear and speak to use a two-way radio and telephone.
