SUMMARY This position will provide essential support in the planning and execution of venue operations at Churchill Downs Racetrack.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Oversees the development and execution of all parking operations and transportation plans throughout the year. The primary focus of this position will be the successful management of onsite parking lots, staff recruitment/oversight and training • Supervises Derby week transportation partners and onsite parking plan implementation • Works collaboratively with Derby week transportation vendor on offsite parking capacities, shuttle schedules, pickup/drop-off locations and routes • Develops strategic onsite parking plans for all lots during Derby week including vehicle capacity, parking order, lot layout with staff positions, hours of operation, and ingress/egress routes • Serves as primary keeper of all parking and transportation information – tracks updates and disseminates all necessary information to stake holders in a timely manner • Manages all parking lot FF&E and fulfills any procurement requests for Derby week and live racing • Negotiates all rental contracts for offsite parking as well as rental contracts for Churchill Downs-owned lots • Collaborates with internal departments and transportation vendor on plans for rideshare, mobility assistance, onsite shuttle management and other transportation services (i.e. taxi, hotel shuttles, local transportation buses) • Develops year-round budgets and staffing plans • Recruits, interviews, trains and oversees staff for parking operations, maintenance and special projects • Creates detailed SOPs for parking and other venue operations • Tracks and reports information on daily lot usage, rideshare numbers, fill rates, peak ingress and egress times, as well as egress completion • Oversees onsite valet operations during Derby week and live meets – ensuring proper staffing, efficiency, guest services standards, daily reporting and financial reconciliation • Collaborates with internal stake holders on parking hang tag and pass creation and distribution. • Proposes parking lot signage plan for Derby week and regular race days • Coordinates all special event parking requests – i.e. Kentucky Derby Museum and private groups • Coordinates onsite maintenance for parking lots, including repairs, cleaning, and lot striping • Resolves guest concerns and issues related to track operations • Communicates with outside vendors and partners regarding build schedules for Derby week or other special events • Provides assistance with oversight of event staff as needed • Coordinates setup and teardown of various temporary structures for Derby week
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises parking employees and maintains responsibility for the daily direction, coordination, and execution of the parking and venue operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Will assist management to plan, assign, and direct work and appraise performance. Address complaints and resolve problems.
Previous experience in parking and/or transportation is preferred, with at least two years at a manager level or above.
Candidate should be proficient with various software tools such as spreadsheets, databases and web-applications including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, Smartsheet, Power Point and other MS suite applications. Ability to learn new applications as required.
Previous management experience in parking operations for large-scale events or entertainment venues is a plus.
Experience in staffing development, budget management, venue operations and transportation is preferred.
